Dcn. James Carabajal, MBA, CGMA, CPA Biography
Deacon James Carabajal is the Chief Executive Officer of the Catholic Community Foundation, where he leads the Foundation in its mission of supporting the Diocese of Phoenix by encouraging philanthropy and providing financial support for education and evangelization. Prior to serving as the Foundation’s CEO, Dcn. James worked in the public accounting/consulting and healthcare industries for nearly 23 years before joining the Foundation as the Chief Financial Officer. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from The W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dcn. James holds an active Certified Public Accountant Certificate as well as several Diaconal Theology certificates from the University of Notre Dame. Dcn. James is an ordained deacon currently assigned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel serving with Father John Bonavitacola. He previously served the Archdiocese of Santa Fe as an assigned deacon in Albuquerque, NM. Dcn. James and his wife of nearly 30 years, Liz, have five children.
Kyle Felix, CPA, CA Biography
Kyle Felix is the Director of Finance and Administration at the Foundation. He is responsible for the administrative, operating, and financial functions of the organization, which includes oversight of financial reporting and the investment monitoring processes. Kyle’s expertise is within process improvement, financial accounting, and strategy formulation and analysis. Kyle holds dual accounting certifications in both Canada and the United States as a fully credentialed CPA. Kyle is currently pursuing his Executive MBA from Arizona State University with an expected completion date of May 2021.
When not focusing on his studies and work responsibilities, Kyle and his wife, Meghann, daughter, Averie, and son, Lincoln enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and playing at the pool. Kyle loves all things sports but has a devoted loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles. Feel free to give him a hard time! Kyle and his family attend Holy Cross Parish.
Chrissy Pate Biography
Chrissy does a wide range of activities from event planning, program support, and development. She has been with the Foundation since 2013 and has over 15 years of experience in communications and program management. In 2001, she received her bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism from Arizona State University with a minor in Business. She was the recipient of the Nonprofit Management Certificate from ASU Lodestar Center of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation – non-profits are her passion!
Chrissy and her husband, Keith, live in Mesa with their daughter, Isabelle, and dog, Oscar. They attend Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and enjoy attending sporting events, especially at ASU.
Tyler Greuel Biography
Tyler Greuel is the Accountant at the Foundation. Tyler is responsible for making sure all financial transactions are correctly accounted for. He handles month-end close and fund statement generation for fund advisors. Any questions regarding funds or the fund portal are directed to Tyler.
Tyler received his bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a major in accounting in October 2018. He has been with the Foundation since February 2019 and is excited to continue furthering his education and expanding his knowledge to help the Foundation. Tyler enjoys watching sports (especially hockey), playing outdoor sports, listening to music, and playing video/board games with friends. He attends Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.
Katherine Auman Biography
Katherine is the Administrative Assistant for the Foundation. After growing up in Tucson, Katherine moved to Phoenix to attend Arizona State University. She graduated from ASU in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in Business Administration. Her professional background is primarily in retail banking, with an emphasis in Bank Operations. Katherine is glad to work for an organization that supports the community and loves that she can contribute her skills to the mission of the Foundation.
Katherine lives in Chandler with her husband Bryan, two children (Kate and Joseph), Golden Retriever (Trevor), and cat (Francis). They attend St. Andrew the Apostle Church. In her spare time, Katherine enjoys reading and spending time with her family in the White Mountains.
Andrew Kozusko Biography
Andrew is the Foundation's Philanthropic Advisor. Growing up outside of Pittsburgh in Latrobe, PA, he participated in many sports, but his passion was always baseball which led to an athletic scholarship at Wheeling Jesuit University. He ultimately graduated from Saint Vincent College with a B.A. in History with a minor in Business Management.
After a few years in the energy sector, he went back to school to obtain his master’s degree in Philanthropy and Development at Lagrange College in Lagrange, GA. While working towards his degree, he was also a coach for the baseball team.
After graduation, he worked for a consulting firm that exclusively worked with Catholic Churches, schools, and Diocesan capital campaigns across the country. Andrew is very excited and blessed to have the opportunity to serve the community through his work for the Catholic Community Foundation. He currently lives in Mesa and attends St. Daniel the Prophet Church.
Jake Sheehan Biography
Jake is the Foundation’s newest team member. Jake grew up in Midlothian, Virginia where he attended Catholic school at St. Edward Epiphany School. Growing up, he played many sports from football to lacrosse. These days, Jake enjoys fishing, hiking, and spending time outdoors with his fiancé, Maleah.
Jake is currently earning his B.S. in Communication with a Minor in Finance from Arizona State University with an expected graduation date in 2021. His professional background includes working for an RIA as an Operations professional. Jake has also completed over 3,500 hours of community service in communities across the country whilst serving with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. He was the youngest member of a federally directed disaster responses Incident Command Unit while serving with NCCC, and was a recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2016.
Jake currently lives in Mesa, Arizona and attends St. Anne Roman Catholic Parish in Gilbert, AZ. He is very excited to be welcomed into the Catholic Community Foundation family and feels incredibly blessed to be apart of such an important mission.
