Chief Financial Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Review and prepare financial statements and reporting in accordance with GAAP and ensure that proper fund accounting in accordance with nonprofit standards is accurately performed; develop and execute yearly operating budget and monitor performance of the organization against annual budget; oversee timely and accurate preparation of government reports; utilize fund accounting principles for recording resources from donors in compliance with UPMIFA (Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act); provide charitable donation advice to Canadian and other foreign donors regarding foreign tax consequences of donations; provide financial advice to individuals and organizations related to investment vehicles, investment performance, strategic allocations and economic conditions, including in-depth presentations to financial committees and potential donors with the goal of promoting Catholic-screened investments; assist donors with accounting issues including revenue recognition, investments and fair value disclosures, debt and equity financing, and financial reporting; provide philanthropic advice to donors, addressing tax consequences associated with various charitable giving vehicles; ensure full compliance with all state and/or federal regulatory and compliance requirements; oversee organization restructure and operational processes; design, implement and test effectiveness of internal accounting controls; oversee the Finance & Investment Committee and serve as liaison between the investment manager and the Committee; develop and review the investment policy of the Foundation. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or foreign equivalent;12 months experience in job offered or as Associate, Senior Associate or Audit Manager, or any combination thereof. Must have 12 months experience (may be gained concurrently with the above experience) in:

  • Fund accounting and UPMIFA (Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act) for nonprofit organizations
  • Advising Canadian clients re Canadian Tax Code implications
  • Client organizational restructuring
  • Designing, implementing and testing the effectiveness of internal accounting controls

Must be licensed as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in U.S.

Must be licensed as Chartered Professional Account in Canada
