The Perpetual Light Society is dedicated to fostering Catholic philanthropy and honoring those who have established an enduring legacy. We recognize not only those who have chosen the Catholic Community Foundation as their conduit for estate giving but also extend our invitation to anyone who has made an end-of-life gift directly to a ministry, parish, or school within our community.
Our society is more than a recognition platform; it is a testament to the shared values of faith, generosity, and the vision for a lasting impact. While we encourage the use of the Foundation for estate giving, due to its benefits such as ensuring the protection of your intent and enabling perpetual support, membership in the Perpetual Light Society is not contingent upon this. Every benefactor, irrespective of their giving path, is a valued member of our community.
We honor our benefactors during their lifetimes, acknowledging their philanthropy as a powerful legacy for themselves and an inspirational example for their families. The Society strengthens the foundation of support that bolsters our parishes, schools, and nonprofits, making them more sustainable and impactful for future generations.
If you have named a cause within our community in your estate plan, regardless of the method, we warmly invite you to join the Perpetual Light Society. Become a part of this legacy of light and love by clicking the Intent Form button below."
The Perpetual Light Society serves to promote and honor Catholic philanthropy. Every year the Catholic Community Foundation recognizes those who have created an everlasting legacy through their estate plan by providing for our faith community, parishes, schools, and ministries through their final act of charity.
Mark Hart, Chief Information Officer & Executive Vice President for Life Teen International will be the guest speaker and The Most Rev. John P. Dolan, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is a special guest at this year’s event.

About Those Honored
The Catholic Community Foundation Perpetual Light Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named the Foundation, a parish, school, or nonprofit in our Diocese as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or life insurance policy. Each year prayers are offered in memory of PLS members at the annual Catholic Community Foundation Perpetual Light Society Event. At this year's event in November, we will be honoring Msgr. Richard Moyer, John Q. Adams, and Anthony V. Ehmann, who have recently passed away and have gone to be with the Lord.
Msgr. Richard Moyer
Msgr. Richard Moyer, former Vicar General of the Diocese of Phoenix, died on June 27, 2023. He planned his philanthropy carefully by using Charitable Gift Annuities and created a total of 6 throughout his life. His legacy provides for an endowment that benefits Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos.
John Q. Adams
John lived a life filled with many seasons and went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2022. As a car enthusiast, photographer, among other roles, he always lived an active life and his faith was obvious in his home as he collected Catholic relics around his home that showed he leaned on his Catholic faith. John knew that charitable giving was important in his life as he was an ongoing and annual giver. Through the Catholic Community Foundation John was able to plan in his estate a gift to the Catholic Community Foundation that would create an unrestricted gift that helps the community in perpetuality.
Anthony V. Ehmann
Anthony V. Ehmann, “Tony”, passed away on January 2, 2023. Tony was a devout Catholic who belonged to the Order of Malta and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. As a Knight of Malta, he traveled to Lourdes to serve the sick many times. His impact with the Diocese of Phoenix, the Diocese of Gallup, and the Catholic Community Foundation (of which he was a lifetime board member) was inspirational. His position as an active member of numerous boards, including the Boy Scouts of America, Arizonans for Children, and St. Vincent de Paul will long be remembered.
