With so many of our community members devastated by economic volatility on top of the already existing need, this Christmas season seems bleak. And still, while many are able to give and are willing to answer the call of stewardship, the demand can be vast and overwhelming. In 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 Saint Paul says, "The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God."
Our financial gifts are like a seed. When we plant the seed for the good of others, we will grow a bountiful harvest for many to enjoy. Though the harvest is not wheat or corn – it is the people who encounter God by benefiting from our generous gifts. It is all the hearts being changed and lives being transformed. All glory of our giving is God's and His alone.
As the need for help continues, it is reassuring that the need to help still endures. I am happy to announce that we have partnered with a few organizations to help make supporting our community an easy and safe process.
The Digital Giving Tree is an online giving application that provides a convenient way for people to purchase items requested by those in need. Structured much like the physical Giving Trees located in our Parish lobbies every Christmas, these requested items range from operational supplies for organizations to basic essentials of personal hygiene and Christmas gifts for those who can not provide due to their family's financial hardships. Your gift will be shipped directly to the organization of your choice. You never have to leave the comfort and safety of your own home, and you will receive a message acknowledging your gift. The Digital Giving Tree provides a safe, secure, and easy way for you to spread joy this Holy season. Moreover, you will be answering the call to "Love Neighbor" by giving peace and love to a family in need this Christmas.
On December 1, philanthropists worldwide will come together for GivingTuesday, an annual day of giving inspiring collective generosity. This year, the Catholic Community Foundation is participating in this inspirational giving movement by showcasing our Education Forever Fund. This perpetual endowment fund provides scholarships for students who demonstrate a financial need and desire to experience quality Catholic education. For one day only, the Foundation will MATCH your contribution by 100% doubling your impact on a faithful local student! Please visit our website to find out the many ways you can help sustain the future of our young faithful students by financially supporting the Education Forever Fund.
The Lord never ceases to provide for His people. Even in the most hopeless of times, He continues to bless us with ways to collectively join together and support those who need it most. Let's work together to curb the economic effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and make this truly one of the "Most wonderful times of the year".
