Greetings friends of the Catholic Community Foundation,
My name is Karen Abraham, and I am the new Board of Directors Chair for the FY2021 & FY2022. I am very excited to begin my role as the new Board Chair for the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) and am eager to continue the good works and strategy that have been established by the Board and my two predecessors, Trish Stark and John Even. CCF has a very engaged Board of Directors, dedicated to our mission and ready to do great things for the Catholic community.
Every morning, I think about how grateful I am for the day, for my health and for all of God’s blessings.
This reflection puts me in the right frame of mind for the day and helps me cope in these times of uncertainty. One of the things I am grateful for is being fortunate enough to have a Catholic education. Assisting children to attend a Catholic school financially is central to the mission of CCF. In fact, our focus is on endowments that will ensure that CCF will be able to assist families in affording a Catholic education in our Diocesan schools long into the future.
Our new scholarship program focuses on grants for tuition assistance and is something the entire Board is proud to rally around. Under the leadership of Bryan Brady, Board Treasurer, we have implemented this new program. These scholarships have a significant impact generationally on deserving students. Last year, CCF awarded 19 tuition assistance scholarships at $17,000 each for a grant total of $323,000! We hope to grant another 30 tuition assistance scholarships in the coming year, but we need your help. It is because of our generous donors who help build our endowments, paired with sound Catholic values investing practices, that we can assist students year after year. Endowments raised today will assist many Catholic families in the future. We are grateful to Catholic Education AZ (CEA), who assists with finding students to award these scholarships.
If you are interested in learning more about our endowment opportunities, please do not hesitate to reach out to the excellent team at CCF. Deacon James and the CCF staff have all the answers!
Bless you,
Karen Abraham
