How Can the Catholic Community Foundation Help You to Leave a Legacy?

On Friday, November 1st, we all celebrated All Saints’ Day, a tremendous feast day celebrating all of the saints, including those in our families, whether known or unknown. What amazes me about the saints that we celebrate throughout the liturgical year is their story, the legacy that they left behind as a result of the lives that they led. During this month, I am especially grateful for my parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents, etc. for passing on the Catholic faith to me and my family that we hold so dearly.

As Catholics, we are all called to be saints and to leave a legacy. First and foremost, we are called to leave a legacy of faith for our children and grandchildren, so that they too might live a faith-filled life and join us one day in heaven. In addition, I believe that we are also called to leave a financial legacy both during our lives and after we are gone, no matter what the size of our estate.

For my wife Rebecca and me, our faith is the most important part of our lives.  The Catholic Community Foundation helps us put our faith into action through streamlining our charitable giving and helping us support our favorite Catholic ministries in an impactful way.  As one famous saint has said, “Faith is seen more in deeds than in words.”

For over 35 years, the Catholic Community Foundation has been creating and managing the financial vehicles necessary for you to leave the Catholic legacy you want.  As a long-time estate planning and business attorney in the Valley, I know how important it is for all families to plan well.  For over 20 years, I have been blessed to serve the Foundation in various volunteer capacities, and I am currently serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Foundation.  It has been an amazing journey, and I am happy to serve in accomplishing the mission of encouraging philanthropy and providing financial support for Catholic evangelization and education.  Whether it is to schedule a wills and trusts seminar at your parish or a one-on-one legacy planning meeting with one or our team, to join the Giving Circle in order to make impactful grants for incredible ministries, or to sponsor a future student leader through the Christian Service Awards or other needs-based scholarships, I encourage you to call us today to ask how the Foundation can help you leave your Catholic Legacy.

Let’s face it.  We all know that there are lots of worthy Catholic ministries right have in our Diocese that need our support, including ministries that help the sick and the poor, support Catholic parishes and schools, help fund seminarian education, and support pro-life and pro-family organizations.  In addition, we also know that there are lots of faithful Catholic donors that want to support these Catholic ministries.  The Catholic Community Foundation provides safely structured giving vehicles to help donors support these Catholic ministries in an impactful way.  These legally protected vehicles include endowments, donor-advised funds, annuities, and scholarship programs.  Moreover, the qualified staff at the Foundation can not only help you determine which vehicle is best suited for you, but they also help you to get it set up and funded, and then they do all of the back-end administrative work for you.

When we remember all of the saints that have faithfully gone before us, especially those in our own families, I encourage all of you to call the Catholic Community Foundation to discuss the different ways that you can leave your Catholic Legacy. Merry Christmas!
