Get to Know Kyle Felix, Director of Finance and Administration

What is your role at the Catholic Community Foundation?

I am the Director of Finance and Administration. In this role, I get to wear multiple hats as my day to day is always different! On the financial side, I am responsible for internal and external reporting to fund holders, the CEO and various committees of the Board. This includes financial reporting, as well as performance reporting. Other keys areas include monitoring the budget, ensuring adherence to control and process procedures, and formulating the strategies of the Foundation. As the administration of the Foundation I have the privilege of being the point of contact for employee related matters, which includes hiring and training new employees, facilitating performance evaluations and coordinating office administrative matters.

How long have you worked with the Catholic Community Foundation?

I have been with the Foundation since the beginning of March 2018.

What is your favorite part of your career with the Catholic Community Foundation? 

My favorite part is being able to help formulate the direction and goals of the Foundation. We have so many opportunities external to the Foundation and coupled with the team’s internal capabilities it makes for an exciting future for the Foundation. It’s also a huge benefit to witness the impact the Foundation is making on families around the Diocese and being a part of their respective stories.

What has been the most impactful project or moment you’ve experienced while working at the Catholic Community Foundation? 

As we embarked on the end of the 2018 fiscal year, we noted that we had some unspent endowment money that had a particular purpose of benefiting a select group of schools in the East Valley. Our Director of Development, David, made a few calls to see if there was a need for these funds and whether the needs aligned with the stipulations of the endowment. On his first call he discovered that one of the qualifying schools was undergoing renovations and that they were in need of new computer hardware to complete their project. It just so happened that the amount we had available was exactly what they needed! It was a great feeling knowing that we were able to help make an impact on the school’s day to day activities.

Is there an event or project coming up that you’re looking forward to? Why? 

I am particularly looking forward to the Catholic Leadership Circle kick-off event in October. Our Director of Development David and Development Associate Miranda, have done an amazing job in planning for this event. I won’t elaborate on the activities planned but it is something I am very much looking forward to! This event is a kick-off to what we expect to be the largest giving year the Foundation has ever had, and will allow us to continue making an impact throughout the community.
